News: Delayed delegation for .CH and .LI domains
In order to better protect Internet users from malware and phishing, SWITCH introduced a delayed delegation for new registrations on December 2, 2021
As soon as SWITCH suspects that there may be fraudulent intent behind a registration, the domain name is assigned, but SWITCH prevents it from being included in the zone file and requests the domain owner to prove his identity within 30 days. SWITCH will contact the registrant directly by email and ask him to provide proof of identity (e.g. copy of passport). If this does not happen, SWITCH will revoke the assigned domain name.
There is no reimbursement of registration costs for revoked domain names.
The domain name remains blocked for the duration of the identification request and can neither be changed nor deleted.
